I'd pay $150-250 for a complete action, depending on the condtion. The last 4 I bought all ran under $180 each. -Don

I saw one without trigger assembly for $200 on a table at a WA gun show last Saturday, and I have the guy's address. He just sent some parts for the A5 he sold me. Great guy to do biz with.

To look at it from another perspective, remember that the bottom metal alone is probably worth well over $100. At least that seems like what Argie bottom metal is going for now. Throw in a receiver, a bolt, an extractor and an ejector and pretty soon you have a rifle. Somebody might sell an Argie in good condition for $150, but I certainly wouldn't. LOL. flaco

I assume you're speaking og the DWM's? What about the Argentinian made ones, same price or less?

the ones I bought were DWM. They are the only ones I would be interested in and have no idea bout the SA made Mausers

Exactly......frankly an Argie without the hinged bottom metal is not worth a hoot.....frankly far over rated! I'd far rather have a VZ-24 if i had to supply my own bottom metal. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Vapodog And what are your reasons for your statement.

I wouldnt say they "arent worth a hoot". They are still a well made action. But they certainly arent worth the normal $200 asking price. I wouldnt go over $80 for one without bottom metal.

Just to be sure I was clear, I paid $200 for the complete actions w/bottom metal in January. Bought a barreled action for $175 last year. If you don't have to buy the first one you see, then you can get them for $200 or less. I would not pay over that for a complete action and bottom metal But there is a lot to be said for convenience and ready availability at times. All depends on what situation you are in I guess. That is why I pick things up when I find them-I can usually pass on something with no ill consequences

Because there is nothing special about an argentine without it's bottom metal.....it's simply a mauser action lacking the (supposed) better metalurgy of the WWII (post 1924) models such as a VZ-24 and runs an extra $100 to heat treat it. If one adds that cost to the action it's worthless IMO!....one could have had a WWII or even a post war commercial action for less! The ONLY thing the Argentine has going for it is bottom metal. Compare the price to a better action and the Argentine don't look so good anymore. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Everybody here is talking about how they wouldn't pay more than a certain amount, and oh by the way, I just bought this many actions for this much money, etc. Okay, where are all of these cheap VZ24s and all of these Genuine Mauser actions for so darn cheap? I don't see them anywhere. Argentines seem to be readily available, and if you find one with the bottom metal for $200 and have it heat treated for $100 thats no different from buying a VZ24 for $150 and spending another $150 to put decent bottom metal on it. Anybody have a source for good, no pits, no rust matching no. VZ24s for $150. I am ready to buy a few.

22WRF, I've sold quite a few VZ-24 at $175 and some may have been sold for less by others but dern few I think. In the last six months I've sold 17 VZ-24 action only for $175. I'm nearly out! Many (I suspect) intend to use the existing bottom metal and I install P. A. W. S. bottom metal for about $70 I had an Argentine with original bottom metal that I sold a year ago for $150 (dummy me) and saw one in Wisconsin for $150 that I didn't buy. Everyone to their own I guess.....I'm quickly getting to the point that the only Mauser I want anymore is a commercial post WWII /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
