Looking for some help trying to determine which base my 1905 (9x56) carbine is set up for. The forward receiver ring is drilled and tapped for two 6-48 screws approximately 7/8 center to center. The side of the receiver is drilled and tapped for two 6-48 screws approximately 5/8 center to center. The location of the forward screw on the side is approximately 2 1/4 inches from the rear screw on the front receiver ring. I purchased a Kuharsky base (B&L) and although the center to center measurements on the two sets of holes match, the forward screw on the side starts approximately 2 1/2 inches from the rear screw on the front receiver ring. In other words it doesn't fit and I won't put any more holes in the receiver. I have heard that there was a Leupold base made at some point.Perhaps if someone has one and could measure it, I could determine if it is worth starting a search for another base. Thanks

I had an EAW side mount on mine. I can't guarantee this is what your receiver is drilled and tapped for, but my mount sat on the front ring and the rear side of the receiver. Quite a simple mount, and it worked well - quick detachable and all. As most things EAW, it was not cheap, though. - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... Richj, Thanks for checking--very much appreciated. To assure we're on the same sheet of music. Are your bases the two piece Redfield's? The B&L base is one piece and the side screws attach about midway along the left side of the receiver just slightly to the rear of the midpoint of the magazine. It's just that the screw holes on my receiver are about 1/4 inch out of position. mho, I'll look into EAW. Thanks
