I purchased a 8 X 57 Mauser that I thought was a dedicated VZ-24 Mauser. When I received it the markings on the side of the receiver are stamped 24-47. Does anyone know anything about these markings and is this a good action for a custom? Thanks---------Pegleg

They are decidedly not a vz24. These are based off the intermediate FN action. Mag box is only 3.23". Depending on how nice the rearsenalling job was done they can be nice actions to build on. Cartridge length is limited though by box length.

Only a small amount o fthe M24's were actually FN made. The vast majority were made by the Yugoslavians. Still, much better than the M48.
