Gentlemen,

I'm in the stages of building a Mauser with a Mannlicher style stock on it. I can evision what I'm after a little better if I can see a finished product. So, I was curious if any of you guys had a picture of a Mannlicher stocked Mauser, if you could post it.

Or, a link to a website that has a few of them would be nice as well. There are no decent books on this subject in either of my local libraries and I have not had the best luck searching the web.

At the very least, this is a good opportunity to show and tell?

Thank you all,

Jason

Thanks Chic....

Idared's 6.5x55 is slowly taking shape. Not the best pictures, but I quickly snapped some to prove to Larry I was really working on it.

Thanks Steven....

I had to research a bit to see just who the hell was offering the constructive criticism on my stock butchering! Smiler

Actually, although the photos don't show it well, the swivels aren't on pedestals......it's merely a bead around the bases contoured to the stock surface. Attempting to match the same treatment around the bolt release. An experiment to be sure, but I sold the premise to Idared so there it is. Heh Heh..... It won't be the first "fad" I found about a generation after everybody else abandoned it.

Since I am the one to blame for assembling a bunch of parts for this rifle I should probably take my brother of the hook by saying most everything about it was pretty much my idea. I wanted something a little different and this is what transpired. My smith told me he wouldn't recomend another Springfield triggerguard on a Mauser, but money will get most anything so it was performed. I wanted a stock with side panels and Grandview graciously agreed, howbeit, maybe in a bit more moderation than I had imagined. I also asked for an egg-shaped cheekpiece and that turned out nicely in my eyes. The swivel fixtures were also handed to Grandview with the instructions to use them, which he did. We did discuss the bead around them and I liked the idea with the bolt-stop and also the beaded cheekpiece.

This whole exercise was started by me with the idea I would make something that no one else would have, nobody in their right mind probably would either, but it actually is very pleasing to me as a whole so far. Matter of fact I am surprised a bit as to just how good it does look and I am looking forward to being able to hunt with it someday.

You done good Grandview. Smiler Wink Smiler

I should also add I really appreciate input from people like Steven. He knows what makes a good looking stock with lines that flow in the right directions. I will also add I would no doubt be better off if I listened to folks like him more often, but I guess thats why they call me an Idaho Redneck. At least that is my excuse. Cool

Heh Heh....

Being my brother comes with a lot of baggage. I think Idared has had about 8 or 9 rifles stocked by me, but several aborted projects that I ended up receiving in trades because I never got around to them. Two additional projects are in the shop right now. My delivery time sucks! I have a lot of respect for those guys that do it for a living!

Uh-oh.....

I was referring to a Model 70 and a "Wundhammer" Springfield. Do I have some "trade-bait" hanging around yet?
