I have a remington 03-A3 Barreld action, sitting here, and I am thinking of what type of prject i would do with it. The rea of the reciever has been ground down so a side mounted peep would clear, so if i wanted to mount a scope in the standard fasion , that would have to be built backnup. I was thinking of doing somthing crazy like a 450 marlin, 20 inch with the peep site back on and mabye a scout scope, I would probably put the hole thing in a cammo synthetick stock. any reason this would,nt work ? ...tj3006 freedom1st

I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work.Rebarrel to that caliber is standard gunsmithing. The boltface would have to be opened up to accept the magnum head size and the feeding rails altered for reliable feeding.

thanks ray i was thinking the same thing, With the ne 325 hornady leverlution bullets , not to mention some other good .458 diamiter bullets, it should be a real thumper for and north american game up to and including grizzly bear...tj3006 freedom1st

Your line of sight from the peep might be obstructed with a "Scout type" mount. A side mount for the scope might be the way to go if you want to use both open and scope sights on the rifle. I have always been intrigued with a 450 Marlin in a bolt action also. I think it would be a fun project and as you mentioned , a real thumper. ****************************** "We do not exaggerate when we state positively that the remodelled Springfield is the best and most suitable "all 'round" rifle".......Seymour Griffin, GRIFFIN & HOWE, Inc.
