I've just been talking to my main parts supplier and mentioned to him my plans for regulating my sights with the help of one of our top gunsmiths,he assures me that it is very important that I do all the shooting and leave the 'smith to only use the file as the sights must be regulated to suit me.Is it true that two people can look down the same sights and both shoot to two vastly different POA.I would have thought that down the middle is down the middle!!

The way the rifle moves in recoil is a function of the way the shooter holds/supports it. And, the way it moves in recoil will determine the direction the bullet is moving when it actually leaves the muzzle. Any variation in how the bullet leaves the muzzle will determine the point of impact for any given sight setting. So, two shooters using different shooting styles can have different POI for your sight setting. Moral of the story - never let anyone else sight in your rifle. Also, I don't use any mechanical contraption (like a Lead Sled) for sighting in - at least for the fine tuning. There is no way to simulate the way you move in recoil, and your sights have to reflect this. maxman

it's a "yep, you are 100% right AND wrong" on right down the middle was right down the middle. the GUN will shoot exactly where aimed... and the sights WILL align to a single point... BUT, nearly everyone i know uses a slightly different sight picture/hold/"fine bead" etc.... if you hold the bottom of the bead at the top (touch) of the V, you will have a different picture than the guy that tries to hold the middle of the bead... etc you should shoot if it's to be YOUR sight picture jeffe
