OK, what I/m thinking of is how to clean/lube the bolt & parts. This rifle sat inside the house for all these years, & looks to be in "good" shape, but I can see some grunge or whatnot when looking in from outside the action. The bolt didn't always close quite completely, and hand cycled a bit sluggish, when I shot it at the range for my first time recently. I doubt this rifle was abused, but don't know when the action was cleaned last.

I would not recommend that you do this without some training. The barrel has to be removed to take the bolt out the front of the receiver. If similar to the Rem. 742 there is a small pin which must be removed from the bolt handle and is tricky to do without damage. Elmer.

I agree with Elmer that the takedown on your rifle is not for the faint of heart. Purchase a can of Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber. Remove the trigger group and spray Gun Scrubber in and around the bolt and its parts. Gun Scribber is also a good way to clean the trigger group without disassembly. Let drain and then apply a good gun oil or grease to the moving parts. Do not use carbureator or brake cleaner as a subistute for Gun Scrubber as they will take finish off of stocks and MELT any plastic parts Leadfoot
