I have an old FN Commercial action that has been Bubba drilled and tapped, that I want to do something with. It is chambered in .270 win. currently and I want to do something different. I don't own an -06, 338-06, 35 Whelen, or 9.3 x 62-etc. I do have a 338 win mag. Would you have it re-bored to something bigger or simply re-barrel. I'd kind of like to keep the front sight, and maybe even find a replacement for the original peep site that it must have had to start with as it is drilled on the side of the action and has no rear sight. This is not a real high priority though. What kind of money would I save by re-boring to either a Whelen or 9.3? I would like to make use of the longer magazine box so a 57mm case won't be considered. I will need to make a new stock for it as well. Bubba bucked that up too. Oh, I'm not the Bubba this time.
