My 9.3x62 CZ is at the smith getting rechambered and I need to know the mag box length. Can anyone out there help me with this? Thanks, Cobalt

Cobalt, I cannot give you exacts but you could measure a loaded round and get close..All 9.3x62's are standard Mauser lenth I suspect... I open a 9.3x64 up about forty thousands in back with a file. I have never had to monkey with the 9.3x62, just chamber the barrel and go to shooting, as it is very close to a 30-06 in design. Ocasionally one will have to tweak the rails a might or recut the extractor to direct the bullet nose into center...all minor stuff. ------------------

Cobalt, I wish you well with your soon-to-be 9.3x64. I suspoect that you will have no trouble with the magazine box length in your rifle. Just a side note: I've had a box of Nosler's 286 grain partitions since December last year and just got around to loading them this week. When seated to the cannelure, the OAL is 3.29. My one other load uses a Speer 270 grainer (not really a good bullet for the x64 - too fragile) and those loads were 3.36" OAL. They did shoot good in my rifle though and were an economical way to get the first shots out of the rifle some years ago. I'll post here when I get to chono the loads. I am trying RL15 and H4350 in this test run. -redleg

Thanks Guys, 3.47--excellent. In Barnes' Cartridges of the World, the original OAL for the 64 is given as 3.43 so I should be able to work with the stock box. RedLeg, The 270 Speers are all that I have at the moment and I am glad to see you are working up some 4350 loads as I have a bunch of that for the big rifles. I am chomping at the bit, waiting for my bbl/action to return from the smith. The string on bedding Mausers was well timed. My rifle had no factory bedding, but double cross bolts and steel pillers for the action screws. The pillers are not a press fit so the string on Marine Tex for bedding them was enlightening. I have used a ton of this material on the boats. Isn't this forum great?! Cobalt
