I recently purchased a Sako TRG-41 in 338 Lapua Magnum. The beast is Accurate, powerful and loud. I need to have the muzzle threaded in 18x1mm to match the profile found on the newer TRG-42 models. That way I can use the various accessories back and forth between this rifle and my TRG-22 in .308.
I have a suppressor for the TRG-22. I think I'll just have it bored out another .020". Then it will work with both rifles. It will likely only lose one or two db in effectiveness on the .308 rifle.
I also need a few small transverse cuts made in the top of the receiver, again to mimic the newer TRG-22/42 profile. Those keep the various available scope mounts from sliding around while providing the option of securing them further forward or aft as desired.
I'll post a few pictures tomorrow.
As always, thanks for the help.

My desired muzzle is this. It is the muzzle of my TRG-22 in .308:

My present TRG-41 in 338 Lapua Magnum's muzzle looks like this:

It is kind of odd. It looks like there is a steel sleeve over a fairly long threaded section. The sleeve doesn't want to come off with reasonable means. Maybe it is glued on? the stuff on the outside is dried epoxy that was used to attach the original muzzle brake.

Here are some side by side looks at the tops of the actions. The TRG-41 is at the top of the picture. The TRG-22 has some transverse grooves cut to keep various scope mounts from sliding around. I will find out the correct arrangement for these grooves on a TRG-42, the follow on to my TRG-41:

Jim Kobe has offered to take a look at the job. I very much appreciate that. Without a CNC it is a PITA to change out gearing on a lathe to cut metric threads. In Europe I'm sure they view it as a bigger PITA to try and cut English or SAE threads.
