This is the only picture of the front ring of this rifle. Would you say that the front ring Drill and tap job is wrong and right into the reciever lug or maybe all the way through it?

Looks like the base should be farther forward to me and someone drilled it wrong.

It's easy enough to find out. Just take the base off, stick something through the hole, then reach in with your finger and feel.

To me it looks like it missed the locking lug, but, I may be wrong. It won't be the first time.
