I just picked up a 308 and am having trouble with cases sticking in the chamber. I can see score lines on the cases when I get them out is there a way to safely polish the chamber?

You need a case fired in that gun, thread end of an old cleaning rod (SKS rod works great), JB's or super-fine lapping compound, drill and tap.
Remove the primer and drill out the flash-hole, tap it for the thread of the cleaning rod. Screw the rod into the case and put in a electric drill. Coat the case with compound. Spin the case and slowly work it in and out of the chamber (re-apply compound often) till it will go all the way in.

I've used this method on new 'sticky' chambers and old rusted one with great success.
Godd luck.

Patrick,

The method Willie B mentions can work if you're careful, however, the gold standard for this would be to pull and place the barrel in a lathe and use emery cloth to clean it up. You have better control with the action removed and barrel running in a lathe. People have a tendency to over do things, and if done carelessly, you can damage the chamber and create a dangerous situation by altering the headspace...
