Good quality fibreglass is the most stable of all and do seem to absorb some recoil from the heavy kickers. They also require no maintenance of any kind.Cheap plastic stocks on the other hand are often poorly made and some have been known to crack with bigger calibers.

If you're looking to save weight, stay away from the laminates. They usually end up a little heavier than a typical walnut stock. There is a lightweight option from Boyd's, they drill holes in the butt and rout out part of the forend. Other than that, they make a good stock. Personally I like them. In the synthetics side, well, how much do you want to spend? There is everything from $79 plastics (you know who you are)to $500 customs. On the inexpensive but decent side, there are Butler Creek/Uncle Mike's and Hogue. Perhaps the new one from Midway, but I haven't played with one yet. Really, if weight isn't an issue, I would go with the laminate. Good luck - Dan

JOHAN, I prefer that my rifle weight more with laminate stock, than become ugly with fibreglass stock. But I can understand that some guys prefer fibreglass stock to save weight and perfect for all weather. The best compromised for me is Blaser stock Off Road Timber in fibreglass with laminate imitation. ------------------
