Should oil or grease be used on the flat part of the trigger where it contacts the safety? What kind of oil is best for the trigger/sear surfaces?

I attended Kenny Jarret's rifle cleaning class at SCI this year. He advocates squirting lighter fluid in the trigger. Nothing more or less.

JCCD,

Some folks prefer to lube their triggers and some folks don't. Anytime you have metal to metal contact, it is okay to apply a "little" lube at the point of pivot, or the point of contact. Too much lube can create problems by attracting dirt and debris which can promote wear or cause interference between closely fitted or moving parts. If you opt to lube your trigger, then you need to regularly clean and inspect the trigger to avoid dangerous or unsafe conditions.

I just figured that where the safety contacts the flat on the trigger would wear to the point that over time there wouldn't be enough contact for the safety to prevent the rifle from firing. I guess it doesn't wear enough for it to be a problem.
