Sooo, I have this diminutive German rifle stock with a slightly curved butt plate and am wondering if any of you 'sperts out there have ever tried heating and bending, say a Pachmayr or Silvers pad? I do not need the pad, rather the length acquired. Heating the pad is easy. Another question arises asking: will the pad retain it's curved shape after the mounting pressure is released and the pad cooled? The Silvers pads contain no metal of which I am aware, dissimilar to the Pachmayr. The curve in the butt is close to one found an an older M70 steel plate. This bending idea works, eh? I am aware of the obviation of sanding the damn thing flat, just do not wish to go there. May want originality some day later. Help me out or I sacrifice a virgin. Stephen

Pachy pad. The widows peak is RTV. My buddy heated it and rolled it over a round bar.

I did one many years ago, it worked but didn't look as nice as that one.

That came out well. I have done several with the Neidner steel but never thought about doing a Pachmyer. Never mistake motion for action.
