You are probably going to have to have one built as 308's with 26" barrels are rare as factory rifles.I would start with a trued and lapped stainless 700 action ,a good match grade barrel,pillar bedded into a mcmillan stock.The best part is that you can choose your length of pull,barrel contour and stock design to suit yourself so it will be exactly what you want. | |||

Rigfer, Stublejumper makes some good points and if you want to go the custom route I agree with him, build what you want.In a factory trimmed rifle wood stock and short action. I would look seriously at the Winchester WSM Classic Laminated - in 270, 7mm, and 300 WSM. Sure you will give up 2" of barrel, but the WSM line will provide better performance over a 308 Win. The Remington and Ruger model rifles are available with 22" barrels. You can dress it up with a trigger job, pillar bed, float the barrel, install a compact 3x9 low mounted scope and have a semi custom rifle. I think it will meet or exceed you expectations.
