I have a Parker hale 243 rifle I was just given by my Grandmother. The mounts that were on it were weaver but the rear mount holes did not match with both holes in the action. I bought a 1 piece Leupold base mount for a Parker hale, and FN mauser. It won't fit this gun. The rear mount is higher than the front. I have read that they are Mauser actions but I am not sure what this one is. The action looks to be cast. And it kid of looks like a 03 springfield bolt. I need help to get the right base mount. Here is a pictures of the action. Ron

Hello, It may well be a PH, but it looks like one of the rifles offered for sale by the Gibbs Rifle Co. located in eastern panhandle of West Virginia at one time. They used the many thousands of surplus Springfield bolts to fit into an action. Might want to check into mounts for the Springfield O3/A3????? Just a guess based on your photos. Good Luck.

I think I might have found something. Could this be a Parker Hale 2000 series, or a Midland series? I found Weaver mounts for these but I want something better. Ron

In case you can't find the correct ones, you can get custom bases made. Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild

Were these guns decent guns? I would like to get a good set of mounts. I think I will take it to sportsmans to see if the springfield mount will work. Ron

Got any beter pics? Not sure what the heck that is. I tried to look it up in my book. Cant see much in those pics. Looks like a mauser type reciever/bolt releise, springfield 3rd lug, Cant see the bolt shroud/safety. The Santa Barbara mauser actions looked almost like a cast alloy, but they were just like a mauser but a funky bolt knob

in line with driver's post above: bannerman's in NYC used to cobble together different makes of bolts/receivers/etc- *I think*. I have no idea as to the quality of same. *I think* other outfits did it too- maybe Flaigs. I have nothing to take to the bank here, except the photo shows a springfield bolt, shroud, not a springfield cocking piece, and what *looks* like a commercial mauser receiver.
