I am going to see one tomorrow and I don't know a lot about Sako's. I have owned a Tikka and thought it was a decent rifle. This rifle is a left handed 7 MM Rem, and I know that they don't make LH'ers anymore. I can get it for less than half the price of a new RH model Sako.

Are these rifles any good?

After I had mine Cryo treated, bedded properly, and found a good load, there is none better. I am sure the controlled round fellas are ready to pounce though. Fourteen years and no failures I can't argue with. Cost it out, a custom rifle or a sako, over the life of your hunting career. Both are cheap in the long run if you are realistic and do your homework. Good luck my friend.......Alan

edit..On an AV, if you buy it make sure the bolt stop/release screws are tight and loctighted, they are skinny and easy to snap if loose. I busted mine off and had them drilled out to the next larger size. (It sucks to catch a bolt in the eye at 30 below.) [Mad]

Buy it. You can think of it as a higher-quality Tikka. I've owned dozens through the years and they take a back seat to no rifle.

Dannyboy,

I have two Sako LH rifles, a .338 and a .375, and I just sold another in 7STW.

They are the best push-feed rifle available to lefties.

The Sako and the Tikka are of different design; the Sako is steel and walnut. The Tikka has quite a bit of plastic in it.
