Hey Guys,

I've got a question that might turn into a problem.

I bought a VZ24 off this sight. I recieved it today and the left side of the reciever is stamped DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN. BERLIN

It was sold as a surface ground VZ24. Is there anyway that this is a VZ24? It has a straight bolt handle. Any ideas of what it is? It was shipped in parts which I didn't know and I guess isn't a problem.

Not sure what to think

It is a German made DWM. Someone might be able to identify the which DWM model based on the marking but it is NOT a Czech made VZ-24.

Those are a lot easier to identify with pictures.

Just a WAG, but may be South American. Brazil or Agentina come to mind. Without the crest it might me hard to tell. The DWM Mausers were generally very well made.

this is correct.....the WWII DWM actions were as good as the cz-24 but I'd like to know if it was actually surface ground as claimed.....further what is the date.....is any date stamped anywhere?

IMO if it's a WWI action it's not the quality of a VZ-24 and I'd return it.....

Have it checked out to ensure it is still in as good condition as when it was made and then build something on it.

DWM actions were great actions when made. Most likely 80+ years have elapsed since it was made. Have it inspected and if it passes enjoy it. The Bulk of the actions marked DWM on the siderail were either 1908 Brazilians or 1909 Argentines. The WWI vintage DWMs said Gew 98 on the side and were marked DWM on the top of teh front ring.

Thanks Mike,

I might take you up on that. I was wasn't sure what to think when I bought a action that was supposed to be a surfaced ground VZ24 and turned out to be something different.

It also came in pieces because it was missing the shroud which I was told about after the money was sent.

ddj

Thanks

Hmm, another good reason to have it checked out.

Most sellers here on AR would make good on something they sold that was not as advertised.

Most DWM's are a heck of alot nicer than a VZ24. You probably made out just fine!

I hope so. I did recieve any email from the party that he may have made a mistake. I believe him. But when an action comes in pieces you hope that it all is original or works?

I don't really want to pay to have it checked out ontop of the cost of the action that I thought to be whole and a VZ24.

Thanks for your help

I had a conversation with the AR member I bought it from and said he bought a "bunch" of 1909 Argentines a few years back.

This action didn't come with a floor plate either.

It has been surface ground nicely though.
