Any recommendations for best "bang for the buck" barrel for 284 winchester. Maximum length? Rate of twist? Will be shooting 150-160 grain bullets. For hunting and bench.

Ron, for the .284 I'd recommend 1-9" twist for those bullets. I've rebarreld a few BLRs and always use Douglas barrels. I've always had great results with Douglas. The last BLR I did was in .375 Hawk and was very accurate. George

On my 284 i have a shilen 23" barrel. Twist is 1 in 9, I believe. Works well with 150-160 gr bullets. It's a fast barrel, though, so I don't know if it's a fair representation. I get 2990 fps with Win factory 150 gr ammo. The Shilens I have on other rifles are all great barrels though. Of course, I've also had good luck with Douglas and Ron Smith (especially his gain twist barrels). FWIW - Dan
