English Mausers?
Has England/Birmington ever made their own Mauser bolt actions, for Parker Hale or anyone else?

Thanks Jeff, I'm dealing with a pom here who thinks his Parker Hale action was possably made in Birmingham. He nearly had a ceasure when I mentioned it might be Spanish or Yugo.

Actually, the pom may be correct.

Parker Hale used FN Mauser derivatives from Zastava and FN proper

Alf I've often read reference to the Parker Hale often having the Santa Barbara action. Matter of fact just checked "Bolt Action Rifles" to verify that at least on the series 1200.

Any Idea?

As usual just my $.02

How's that? Parker hale didn't use an indigenous action, they used SBs ( i don't think they used FNs, and CERTAINLY not BSAs)

like a whitworth 98 based action, not even close to being an action made in england. (zastava actions - same as the interarms/CD with a nicer stock)

Parker hale mauser actions made in england? never happened.

Parker Hale used surplus military Mauser bolts matched to their own investment cast receivers.

Aren't there some Parker Hale "Mausers" with a cast receiver and a Springfield 1903 bolt?

I remember in later years I saw some Parker Hales that appeared to be made from 1903 springfield actions.

Vapo,
I don't recall seeing a springfield parker, but I do recall seeing BSA springfields...

Wonder how they did that? a1903 bolt wont fit in a 98 action without serious work (see my horrible pics below) ..

unless they either ground off the third lug or cut the mauser's rear breach to be "open" like a nagant (and therefore having no place to put a rear scope mount) i really don't see how that's possible.

1903a3 bolt in a CD mauser 98 action

Perhaps he meant the enfield/springfield bolt swap that is SOMEWHAT possible.

no, SB actions are made in spain.then, the SB actions are MADE IN SPAIN, as investment cast, and could have used milsup bolts (who knows, i don't and couldn't confirm either way), but still, actions not made in england.

The Midland 2100 was the rifle with a Springfield '03 bolt in a modified 98-style receiver. IIRC the story was that someone in about the early 1970s had sourced a lot of surplus Springfield bolts and the receivers were made to order as a means of using them up.

They were otherwise a fairly conventional rifle whose chief attraction, if you could call it that, was cheapness. I remember looking one over in the late 1970s, and thinking it was pretty poorly finished, even for the price.

FWIW they were still listed as recently as the 1995 Shooters Bible, at MSRP (then) of $375. In the same edition a Parker Hale Model 1100 was $595.

Yes, and they did the same thing for for surplus Mauser bolts.
