I've got a beautiful 12 year old blank I would like to have turned into a stock for my .375 Ackley Improved. It's on a Model 70 barrelled action. Who can suggest a good stockmaker with reasonable turn-around time?

Contact Jan at the American Custom Gunmaker's Guild, ACGG web site and ask for the Directory of Member's Services.

What kind of wood is it? What style do you want. What do you want to spend? What is your idea of fast turn around?

It's California, native black walnut. Not English walnut. I'd like a classic style stock, oil finish, with a shadowline cheekpiece, and an ebony forend. I'd be looking for @ 6 month turnaround. I haven't even thought about price. I just know it won't be cheap.

Mike,

I would recommend Claude Gatewood. He is located on the south side of Metro Cleveland. He does very good work at reasonable prices. I am not sure where are located in PA, but he may be within easy driving distance for you.

TEG - You know all about Gatewood, don't you. That's where you lifted a couple of your phoney gun pictures. You are one funny fool. [Big Grin]

I guess this is the trouble being a chronic liar. It becomes impossible to keep it all straight. [Frown]
