I have a question re a M70 I recently purchased. This is supposed to be a 2000 production M70 super grade in 264 Winchester. This rifle definitely has the super grade stock and Williams one-piece floorplate. However, neither the floor plate or the right side of the barrel indicate that this rifle is a super grade. I have a 1992 vintage super grade rifle with this roll marked on the floor plate and barrel. My question...have I received a "parts" rifle, or were the 2000 super grades, or perhaps the limited production 264s, produced without this marking?

Rick: I bought a Supergrade M70 in 264 in late 2001. It had "Supergrade" in the floorplate.

RickF, Got your e-mail, figured I would reply here. What you have is a production 'Super Grade' rifle. The rifle you have has the new design stock using the one piece bottom metal. These new floor plates are not marked like the older forged floor plates used in the three piece system. The barrel should have been marked 'Super Grade', but quite often someone may us the wrong roll when building the barrel/receiver sub-assembly and it gets by Q.C.. Hope this helps, Headache
