Ok..I want one! Anyone know of a custom shop/smith that'll do it? What's the best base rifle to use?

And what about the big NE rounds (.577, 600, 700)?

Thanks in advance!!

The problem with the 577 T-rex is brass, as there is only a guy in Germany making it, and his delivery is lengthy and unpredictable.

If you want to give yourself a good thump, the 585 Nyati is a better option. If you want some serious power, consider a 700 NE single shot on a 50 BMG action as Saeed had built.

I'd advise going to the big bore forum, and running a search on 585 Nyati, there has been lots of discussions, and you'll be able to dig out alot of good info.

My friend and I to wanted a .577 T-Rex but have opted for a .585 Nyatti instead as it will fit in a pinch into a a 602 action or cz 550 magnum action. Brass is available from Bertram. It is still a bit of work and things seem to take a while, we are still waiting for dies which were ordered a month ago and the reamer which was ordered before that. The power of the Nyatti is not that far behind the T-rex, have a look on the reloading pages of this website to make a comparison.

A .700 NE on a .50 BMG would rock. And after looking over the .585, I wouldn't mind having one.

So, who can make these monsters?

I have built a 585 Nyati myself and it's not- what shall we say "an easy project". Your average gunsmith isn't going to be able to handle it. The T-Rex represents even bigger hurdles than a 585 NYATI and the difference in power is moot! I saw one NYATI for sale for $5000 a few weeks ago and it was Junk. AS for Gunsmiths, perhaps John Ricks would do it and he is about the only one I'd trust to build a FUNCTIONAL RIFLE in this caliber. I've invested about $1500 in parts and about 200 hours of work in mine and it's still not optimal. There are at least three different varients of this cartridge floating around and unless you are a very experienced handloader, you will have big problems with getting your ammo to fit some of the chambers. Do some very very carefull research and watch Saeed's videos of the T-Rex very carefully before you jump into this.Do a search on this website on the NYATI and you will see how much problems others before you have gone through. Most of these guns are shot once, dropped once, sold once guns. I'm not trying to disuade you, but these are the facts. It's just like horsepower in a Corvette, how fast do you want to go and how much can you spend! -Rob
