I have a bit of experience as a machinist /toolmaker,(25years) and am somewhat of a closet gunsmith. I do lot of my own repairs and refinishing and such. I would like to learn how to rebarrel guns for my own use. Are there any good references out there? I have a couple of old small ring Mausers to experiment on, so I won't be out much if I screw up. thanks in advance for any info.

I think the best book on rebarreling I have is "The Complete Illustrated Guide to Precision Barrel Fitting" by John Hinnant. If there's a better one I haven't seen it. Brownells www.brownells.com carries it. George

A friend and I are each building 9.3x62s on M98 actions. The books we have found most valuable are, in order, Mauser M98 and M96 by Walsh, the Kuhnhausen shop manual, and Gunsmithing: Rifles by Sweeney.
