John, good question. I need to know also.
Got a M94 in 38/55 and one in 30/30. Both are drilled and tapped for reciever sights.
It's my last chance with iron sights{I'm over 40}

Ashley with the side protectors. Much more rugged than a Lyman or Williams.

I like the williams and I have used them a lot over the years...I like the adjustments that can't be tinkered with easily....

"over 40" whats that got to do with iron sights, get some glasses, I'm 67, wear bifocals and I still shoot iron sights, both peep and shallow V...thats an old crutch thats been worn out on these boards for folks that THINK they need a scope to hunt game....It's the grand American fantasy..

Well Ray... been wearing glasses since 1991. Still can't see as well as I would like to. I'm glad you are still able to use open metallic sights at your age....I can't. Learned to shoot with a Winchester M69 w/factory peep sight...I still shoot it well. These days mostly a pistol shooter. The top of the rear sight can get real fuzzy under some light condtions {most these days}.I would like to try reciever sights on a couple of neglected rifles... thats all. Thanks on the tip on the Williams sights. Dan

Thanks to all for the input. I decided the "quick removal button" on the Lyman was a Murphy looking to enforce his Law so I ordered the Williams from Brownell's -- out of all the stuff in my order guess what was the one item on backorder?

I may just get a really basic set of rings and bases and put a spare scope on it for ammo testing purposes. I've got 500 cases and a couple powders and boxes of bullets waiting!

I have a Bsquare (I believe) side mount on a 94 and I don't like it a bit. One of these days I'll be taking it off and replacing with a peep sight too, too many irons in the fire right now to monkey with it. Might try ordering the sight from midway for now, but I couldn't recommend the side mount to you, even for load development I think I would just use open sights enough to get you close enough.
