SmilerGreetings from OZ. Great to see our US and British cousins doing so well at the Olympics. On the gun matters though...
I am considering either buying a DTA bull pup rifle or alternatively building a custom rifle on a Remington action sitting in a TAC 21 chassis. I'd prefer the DTA as I had an opportunity to shoot one recently and it was ever so sweet.Problem is they cost $5-6K here is OZ, hence my thinking about the TAC 21/Remington option.

Anyone had experience with the TAC 21 using a Remington action. If so, what groups are you shooting, also calibre and any other info would be appreciated. Some guys here have had mixed results as apparently the bedding isn't all that good with the TAC 21, but I'd like to hear other people's views.....?

You might look for a black rifle forum for your answer. This site is mainly oriented toward hunting rifles.

I don't understand what you mean by "the bedding" not being all that good. There is no hit or miss, it's a precision machined piece of aluminum that the action bolts in to, what's there to go wrong? I have seen this particular model up close and it was very well made. Based on what I seen, if I wanted something that looked non traditional, I wouldn't have any heartburn dropping a 308 into one.

You know how it goes. One guy on one forum say the bedding is crap and then the whole world of followers thinks the same thing.

There have been claims that "Because not all Remington actions are the same they wont fit in the chassis very well".

I don't believe that all remington actions are the same (bedding surface trueness) but I do believe they are close enough to each other that it won't matter. It's a Tactical rifle and it will shoot much better then the shooter in most cases.

Wow... Calm down Wedtpac and KC. I did say apparently there was a bedding problem. No need to get so aggressive!!!!
The reason I am on the forum was to clarify if it was correct or not. By the sound of those responses it sounds like you guys work for the company that manufactures the TAC 21 ???
As with any product there are always positives and negatives, I was simply looking for people's experiences ( good and bad). Some people here love them but others have had accuracy problems which they think stem from the bedding - I was simply clarifying if anyone in the US had similar experiences.

It's a good thing you weren't here watching me pen that scathingly aggressive reply. I put my foot through the monitor and had the CPU in a head lock! It was ugly. Roll Eyes

And there in lyes the problem. What are these others credentials in being able to trust their opinion??

You know sometimes when you by a precision instrument you have to take it on faith that it's good.
