Elk Ridge rifle stocks
Trying to plan my rifle project well in advance and was wondering if some people here have had any dealings with them. One plus I found looking at the web page they have is that any of their stocks are available lefthand, which is important to me.I would like to know of all the alternatives out there though. Thanks

I've used 3 laminates from elk ridge. I think they are a good stock. I think the inletting is closer than a Richards for example. While I'm not totally thrilled with elk ridge I do have a stock on order from them.

I've bought a lower end walnut stock from Elf Ridge and was completely satisfied for what I was charged. I would order from them again, but would go for a higher grade of wood.

Make sure you specifiy everything you can think of when you order the stock. I was buying the stock for a short action with 20-inch barrel and forgot to specify the length of forearm. The stock arrived and the forarm length was about 4-inches longer than I would have liked. I ended up cutting it down and losing the forearm tip...my fault.

Oddball
I bought a walnut stock from them for my custom mauser. The wood was very nicly figured from the but to the wrist. Had real nice rosewood gripcap and forend cap. Then I found a flaw in the forarm. After alot of sanding and filing it was finally removed. Only problem is I ended up removing alot more wood than I would have liked to. So now I have a somewhat semi-scnable forend. There may have been a better way of dealing with the problem, but I am just a hack so......
