Who is a good gunsmith for working on a spring eating gun? Jim "Whensoever the General Government assumes undelegated powers, its acts are unauthoritative, void, and of no force." --Thomas Jefferson

The push rod may be installed backward if it is the spring in the forearm that is breaking. This issue was mentioned in the NRA review of the Super X 1. The early model shotguns had a push rod that could be reversed. They put stickon label to warn again it. In the later shot guns the push rod was permanenetly installed so it could not be reversed. I reread the article again a few weeks ago. It was published some time in the 70s in the American Rifleman if you have access to a library.

These folks know their way around a super X 1. http://www.wrightsgunsmiths.com/#Gun Sadly, the true master of the Super x 1 gunsmiths, Bob Baumgart died earlier this year. I have a SX1 and I'm convince it is the finest semi auto ever made. Weagle

Thank you both for the information. I had Bob Baumgart's email address and had been trying to reach him. Sorry to hear that he died. Jim "Whensoever the General Government assumes undelegated powers, its acts are unauthoritative, void, and of no force." --Thomas Jefferson
