I'd say that it is and inertia type from a self loading pistol and is of the type that is a little shorter that the hole that it "lives" in.

I dealt with one like that not too long ago but I can't remember exactly what it was from. IIRC it was some sort of pump action or lever action firearm.

The only reason I remember it, is that I got distracted, lost control of it and the spring shot the damn thing across the shop and I never did find it. Had to order a replacement. Maybe it flew all the way to your shop?

there are a lot of different configurations of 1911 firing pins. That is most likely one of them.
