I just purchased a husky 98 action in 9.3x57 and could either get into reloading $$$$ or rechamber to 9.3x62 with a far greater choice of ammo.

I would love for you smiths to post here, PM or email me some quotes.

If your not a gunsmith but had this done any leads would also be appreciated.

Thanks

Joel

It's been done many times...using the same Husky action...lots of comments on the merits...do a search on line, on this forum, and on other forums...you will find a lot of data and comments.

Basically just a rechamber, but questionable as to accuracy due to throat wear.

You might find a new pre-fit screw in barrel for it at Lothar Walther for a couple hundred.

I don't think the gain is worth the cost as all the reloading components are available much cheaper than doing anything other than a rechamber...and I think factory ammo is available from Norma for the 9.3x57.

Again...do an search online search...all the information you seek is readily available.

Throat wear in a cartridge that genertaes 40K psi?

Biggest thing you have to watch for is whether the reamer will clean up the existing chamber neck.

When going from 57 to 62 you wont have to worry about the "throat wear" since you will be cutting a new throat with the new longer chamber.

PM Mike (Z1r) he can do the work and is honest when answering any questions you may have.

If you reload you can load the '57 to practically the same ballistics as the '62. You should only do this with a 98 action gun.
