I wipe the bore with a patch, Hoppes 9, brass brush, wipe, Rem Bore Cleaner (an abrasive) on a patch over a bristle brush and then wipe it out.

Once you shine a light down the muzzle you will either leave the fouling be or rub it out with an abrasive. At least thats my experiance.

I like the idea of the abrasive in my factory barrels.
