| it is probably safe to say that tens of thousands of people hunt with them right out of the box, and enjoy themselves. however, many find the trigger pull too hard and often replace the factory trigger with an after-market one. you can expect a 7-9 # trigger (my experience). a decent smith can lessen the pull of the factory trigger, or you can go the replacement route. as with all guns, some like rugers and some don't. is yours a great gun? only you can make that determination. i've had a m77 for almost 30 years. no complaints. |

| Most likely the standard rings will not be high enough for a 50mm scope. If you contact Ruger they will swap the rings for some high ones. |

| I got the same rifle last year. Trigger and action were horible! Replaced the trigger with a Timney and had my smith polish the action. |

| Got my M77 stainless/synthetic in .243 for Christmas (Thank you Honey). Yes, the trigger is quite stout. And no the rings wont come close to working. If you want Ruger to swap you out rings they will for free IF you dont open the package they come in. Found out the hard way myself. $60 later I now have high rings that will fit my new 42mm AO. For a 50mm (AO i presume) you will need the super high rings. I like mine so far but that triggers gotta go. Still working on a good load for it but I'm getting close. Good luck with yours.

| I met two guys at the range the other day while breaking in my Ruger #1. Both of them had a Ruger All Weather in 270 win. They both shot nice groups for factory rifles with no smith work at all. Their average group looked to be just a smidge over 1.5" MOA at 100 yards. Some were better. You could tell that they were proud of what they had. I'll have one soon, I know that. They look indestructable.

| I recently go ta stainless laminate Ruger .338, I had it bedded and the trigger worked to a bit under 3 pounds it will shoot 3 woodleigh 225 gr protected points just under 1" at 110 yards.......................this is my third Ruger and the first that will shoot under 1". I am happy with it as I have already shot 6 head of game with it and it swings and points well. I am very contented. It also feeds and ejects flawlessly. |

| hi i have heard a lot about ruger's trigger, but mine is brand new I bought it a couple of month ago an all weather in 3006 with senthetic stock and it is the smoothest trigger i've seen. it breaks a little bit over 1 pound!! it is short distinct and a delight. I don't know who did the trigger work it was a new gun and i don't beleive i need some adjustment. maybe the trigger is better on exported guns? because I am living in Scandinavia. regards yes
