I bought this blank for a rifle build and the price was reasonable so it seems.I'd like a rifle builders opinion on it honestly. I might use for a 22lr build Thanks "A long life, and the good sense to live it." ...Quintis Arrius 375H&H,404J,416DAK,458AFR,416RIG,450RIG,505GIB Avatar: Gregory Peck & Susan Hayward in Africa NRA member

now why on earth would you buy such a ugly piece of wood? perhaps you should invest in a nice piece of plastic for a stock and send this one to me for proper disposal

What's your address??? I was really wondering about grain flow in the wrist area.... The blank is nice....no doubt, but I have picked blanks before only to find out that I didn't see a problem until someone with more experience pointed it out. A gaudy piece of wood that should work out great for a smallbore rifle. The forend looks like it might not have the straightest grain but it looks like the flow through the wrist isn't too bad as long as you don't make the wrist too straight. Probably going to need some stain in the forend to smooth out the transition through the sapwood but I'd use it, that's for sure. Don't forget the double cross-bolts, in case you get some of that high-velocity rimfire stuff :-)

Probably ok for a .22 Hornet or .222, but I would not want to work with it. John Farner If you haven't, please join the NRA!

Years ago I made the mistake of trying to use a very similar blank. I glass-bedded it, and when I popped the barreled action out of the stock, which was about 80% done, the stock broke into about 6 pieces. The customer had provided the blank, and since I'd broken it, I bought the replacement. Expensive lesson learned. John Farner If you haven't, please join the NRA!
