Any advice on a gunsmith to use for bolt bending and drilling & tapping receiver on a 96 Swedish Mauser. I have tried the services of 3 gunsmiths (for various services) who advertise in Gun List, and have been burned 2 of the 3 times. Therefore, I am asking for personal recommendation based upon experience. I have also spoken with 1 gunsmith in Houston and his quote was outragious.
Thanks for the help.

Good luck. I went through 3 myself, each was high and each had his own idea of how it should be done, therefore it took 3 to get it the way I wanted it. I won't sell mine but I sure won't do it again. They all acted like they were doing me some great favor or I was asking for their first child. I have only found 2 gunsmiths in all of north texas that work on mine, each has his areas of expertise. Look at these places.

I have a 96 Swedish sporter done by Ward Buffkin of Darlington Gun Works in Darlington, SC. He charged $98.00 + tax to forge the bolt, grind the charger guides and drill and tap. He has forged 4 bolts for me. The Swedish bolt is swept back like a 1950's FN. First class work. It looks great! You can give him a call at: 843.393.3931 . Good luck!
