I took in trade a 1934 (dated) small ring Mexican Mauser. The actin is not D&T and as orignal as an action can be.
It has been rebarreled to a 7x57 with afairly heavy contour, tapered barrel. Under the barrel it is marked...
sile ossian in
7x57
and in a small box are the letters...RF and MP
I've seen this before but cant remember where, I believe it is an import mark. If so, anyone care to enlighten me on who the barrel maker might be. Looks as if sile barreled this action, because, just in front of the action under the straight non tapered area of the chamber, the letters are marked under it here and rightly spaced like it had been marked after barreling?
Thanks for any info you might have!

Roberts Firearms was a part of Sile Industries. Roberts made Mauser Sporters in Ossian, IN. from 1990 to 1995. Roberts went out of Business with Sile in 1995.

I have a ground down 98 (no name, no id, no nada)
With the same barrel stamp. They are cheep barrels but mine shots good so I can't complain. 1.5" to 2" moa with factory ammo in 7X57mm. I'm currently building some hand loads to get a bit better accuracy but not expecting much. Check your twist rate as mine is fast at something like 1:8.5" so heavy bullets are a must

It's not mine until I do some work to pay for it! I had seen that mark before but couldnt remember where. My intrest lies in the action more than the barrel. My guess is I'll pull it and do something nice for the Mexican... Smiler
Thank you for the replies!
