I started this because I didn't want to hijack the other thread. What would be the feasibility of making a Mauser A pattern stock from an existing one? I have a stock which could easily be shaped to either an A or B pattern, which I cannot use because the inletting for bottom metal is so far off (thanks GAG). What would be best - fill in the inletting with Bondo and just use it for the external pattern? Or does a pattern require inletting for a specific action to be used? I don't know enough about stock making to answer this question myself. Todd

If you've got the metal work ready, then just bed it into the existing stock you have. Fill in gaps with your bedding compound, shape the outside as you wish and have your new pattern stock duplicated.
