A Browning Sarfari BARII 308 converted to .260 (6.5-08).

Anyone know if this would be possible? What would be involved.

Can you see any problems?

(Yes this was posted under Wildcats but I got it wrong first time around).

i bought a 7 mag 'cause it was cheap....like $525....with the idea of using it as base to build a .416 taylor on...download to make the action work....after receiveing several recomedations, i called pacnor to see if they would rebarrel it... no-can-do...they'd rebarrel a bolt gun, but not a lever or an auto...after talking to several gunsmith's, i figured one problem was the silver-soldering the gas piston chamber on the bottom of the barrel... another is getting the old barrel out of the action without destroying the action....steel action possible, alloy action, no-way....i'm sure that someone here will chime in and offer services as long as you got $$$$ for them to experiment with, and i'm still interested in rebarreling mine, but i'm not holding my breath....

I suspected the gas block would be the issue. But it was put there in the first place and it is only solder, not a weld.

Another platform i was looking at is the Rem 7400. Having owned one or 2 I wouldn't normally give you 2c for the thing because IMHO they are a bucket of crap. But anything is worth a try. You can get more third party after market parts for the 7400
