Reboring a pre64 Win. 3006 to 9.3
I have a 1949 Win. model 70 chambered in 3006 that I would like to have the barrel rebored and chambered to 9.3x62 is this possible? If this is possible any recommendations on who you would have do it?
Thank you,
Bryan

458WinIt is a natural fit and my pre-64 9.3x62 is the rifle I now carry the most.
I have Norm Johnson in Turtle Lake, ND due mine

Mark RYep, another heathen here with a 9.3x62 barrel on my previous 25/06 classic M70.
Cheers,
Mark.

Jim KobeWhy not just put on a new barrel? You won't have to re-stamp the caliber and "X" out the old. Would make for a nicer install and maybe more accurate. Just my humble opinion.
I have considered doing this to one of my M70 Classics, originally a 30-06.
Stuffing the magazine full of 9.3x62 cartridges and working the bolt I find the feeding less than ideal. Is this just my rifle or have you had any feeding work done on yours to make them work 100%?
I would have thought the cases were similar enough not to create any issues.

Idaho Sharpshootermight it be the fact that the x62 rim diameter is a couple thousandths larger?

BoxheadMore than possible but preferable in my opinion. I had Cliff LaBounty rebore an FN 30-06 to 9.3x62 in 2000 and it is a great shooter and no XXX of caliber remark. Back then it was 50% of the cost of a blued barrel/sight replacement. new barrel.
