I'm thinking of putting a 26 inch barrel on my 94 carbine. Is there anything different about doing a lever action? Plus the barrel will already have iron sights. So is there anything different you have to do to get the sights to line up correctly? Mike

Yes and yes...and...no and no...and all in between. Goto one of the Levergun forums. There are several excellent leversmiths that can do the job...leverguns fall into their own catagory. It is basically nothing but a rebarrel/chamber job but with the added requirements of knowing how to get the dovetails for the tube mag right. Any competent 'smith can do it but I would go to a specialist on this one. The sights are nothing more than calculating the correct front sight hight for whatever rear sight you have...Brownells catalog can show you how to do that. Be sure to pick the right cartridge...having a 26" 30-30 is a waste of money I think, even going to a 30-30 AI, when one can step up in caliber and/or go to a "better"(arguably), more modern case. Levergun forums have many who've "been there, done that" and the members have the specialized knowledge of leverguns. Actually WAY cheaper and more realistic to sell your carbine and buy a Marlin or keep the shorter barrel and send it to one of the reborers for a larger caliber and get a REAL THUMPER. No diss intended to your idea...probably everyone who has ever had a 94, including me, has thought about doing the same thing. The longer barrel changes the handling...a longer mag tube adds a couple more rounds and the barrel and tube adds weight...and it LOOKS COOL Many have...it's your money and your choice. Luck
