I bought a Savage/Anschutz 54 Sporter .22 LR second hand rifle. The sights have been removed. The screw-holes in the barrel for the front sight are small and of an unusual dimension. I think they are 5's. 6-48's are too big and I tried some 4-40 machine screws I had and they will screw in but seem a tad loose and I never see any 4's being used much for sights. I have found some rifles using 5's but can't remember the thread count. Anyway...does anybody know what size screws these should be or how to find out??? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ J.
