Can the CA glues be used for oily woods. I have cracks in grips made of Cocobolo and Ebony.
Any brand recommended?
Thanks, Bob.

CA is better suited for non porous substrates .

also - especially with the cocobolo make sure to wipe off the gluing areas with some alcohol or acetone to get rid of the natural oils in the wood, or nothing much is going to stick

The crack in the grip is on a S&W J frame grip. Its at the shoulder at the top of the backstrap. I was looking for something that could be wicked into the crack to keep it from spreading.
Thanks

Yes. As Butchloc suggests, I would soak them in mineral spirts or acetone first and allow them to totally dry first, just to wick surface oils away. Thin CA will wick into the cracks quickly if you sorta pull them apart.

Wipe off any squeeze-out quickly and use plastic tape to hold the cracks tightly closed for maybe a half hour after you do it, air in the wood's pores will delay setup more than you would expect.
