Try some clear satin varnish. I like aerosol for touch up work. Just spray it on, let it dry and go over it with a very light abrasive cloth.

jd1 has it right. I would just add that after using some very fine paper (1000grt) rub it out with a car wax/cleaner. Usually the waxes for oxidation or that have cleaner in the title have a very mild abrasive that will bring the shine back up and make it blend in

Auto finish rubbing/polishing compound will remove the *&%$!!! from a finish. The polishing compound is finer abrasive. A little clear poly resin finish in the scratch will fill the abrasion, then polish with compound. ------------------

I find Birchwood-Casey stock finish to be pretty good for most semi- and glossy stock touch-ups. A little application of polishing compound helps blend it in.
