I have a BBK02 action that I have been sitting on for some time.I got it in a time when ther were not so many options for big actions available. I am wanting to make it into something. I have seen a lot of discussion of the benefits of the CZ action and this is as good as a CZ. It does have some files on it like the CZ. My action does not have the cocking piece stop that a mauser does and the safety works well as well as does the Timney trigger. Could this be made into an action for a 505 Gibbs? What changes other than cosmetic, are needed to develope this action into a useful tool??

This action is the same basic paltform as the CZ. Put them side by side on a bencha dn start measuring and you will see what i mean. There are some minor minor machining differences in the cuts for the trigger. Personally, i find the trigger on the BBK to be a HUGE improvement over the CZ. Also, the BBK uses british Imperial threads, as opposed to SI on the CZ. Many gunmakers prefer the BI threads, as it is easier to make them without swapping gears in the lathe.

this action is better for a .505 than the CZ. This action has a .730" bolt, where the CZ has a .700" bolt.

So there you go. It can be considered an "improved" version of the CZ 550 Magnum. Actually, since th eBBK came out first, you could call the CZ a "dumbed down" version of the BBK!

Thanks for your information. I know little about the CZ line up and therefore, even less about the BBK02. Will this action be able to fit a stock that was made for the Magnum Mauser action or will there be substantial differences? I have a stock that was fitted for a magnum mauser action and would like to use it on this action. Can it easily be done?

a good bit different from a Mauser of any kind. But find a stock for a CZ 550 Magnum and you can use it

If you lay a couple of 505 cases in the bottom of the receiver you'll see that it and the CZ are marginally wide for a proper feeding 505. Lots of $$$ or skilled time to make it work right. I went through the drill a while back on my CZ and opted for a single-stack system that uses the factory bottom but with an insert. If the BBK has a removable magazine insert I would consider that. OTOH, a 510 Wells or 500 A Square will feed from a staggered magazine just fine.
