I have a Browing 71 and would like to add sling swivels to it. I dont want to just add a stud mount. What I want is the rear mount inleted into the stock. I have seen that Brownells has but would like to see others. Can yall point me to another source for this project.
The front mount will be on the forearm cap.

Talley and Dakota both make island style swivel mounts. I think brownells carry's them both.............DJ

IF he has any made you can order a set from Tom Burgess, best looking swivels I have seen for what you are looking for (I had a pair for a project but donated them to something so am SOL right now). They are english style (I think that is what you would call it) with an eye and a base that is shaped like many of the two screw mounting british style. The different being you inlet or do a raised island for them (depending on how you like your wood) the front mounts through the forend with a nut on the barrel channel side. The rear one is the cool part, you get the stock setup for it then drill and tap a whole in the stock, the sling swivel has a threaded bolt on it that you use a very very small allen wrench inserted through a tiny hole to turn the bolt and tighten the sling stud into the stock.

Just too cool, wish I hadn't let those go.

Found some pics of Tom's sling studs.
They both were int he Cabelas gun library, the first pic is of a rifle attributed to Burgess and somebody else. Can't remember on the 2nd one, if that second swivel isn't Burgess' then it is a copy of his.

For something unique I had my gunsmith make one from a military sling swivel stud. You can see one in this thread. If you are handy with a dremel and have some imagination you could turn some out that were better looking.

How'd Tom hide those screw holes?...anyone?....I like that!!

The front sling swivel is a through to the inside of the barrel channel where a nut locks it in place. The rear one is fancy, you drill the stock, thread the hole, then use a tiny tiny allen wrench through that hole you see to tighten the sling swivel into the threaded hole.

Tom Burgess designed this stlye of swivel base. I believe he still makes them.

Dave Talley made them for quite a while and then sold the tooling to Dennis Olson. Dennis still makes them if I am not mistaken

I have made them also but am out currently.

The front base uses a #10 cap screw from under the barrel.
The rear one uses a 1/4 x 20 threaded bushing that holds a #6 screw in place, that then screws into the base and holds it in the stock.
