Has anyone had any experience with the new Remington 799 in 22-250, or the old Chas Daley? I thinking of getting one with the idea of converting to a 250 Savage, I know the magazine is a little short but I reload the 250 now and feel I could keep the OAL inline with 87 gr bullets. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

This question come up occassionally.....and the number of folks that have actually seen or owned one is small......and they usually agree that the action isn't suited for the large case head. IMO it should never be used for such rounds as the locking lugs are extremely small.....it's meant for the 223 family. I turned one into a 6 X 45 and use it for deer....it's a fine deer rifle that way. If you want to use the 7.62 X 39 you can do that as well.....about 30-30 power. I wouldn't consider this action for the 22-250. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Factory 250 Sav is too long for the action. The box has a bend in it to accommodate the 22-250 length. Rich

Skid, Yes, I've got one of the "older" Zastava Mini-Mausers not only in Left-Hand but also in .22-250 Remington. I kinda got to agree with vapo-dog on his assessment of the "Mini" action. The .22-250 takes every bit of available space to squeeze it in and then does nothing for performance with that 20", pencil thin, not particularly good .22-250 barrel. My rifle (action - the stock already went into the the fire at the Hutning Lease) is sitting in the back of the gun safe - waiting, yes, lurking there in the wings; as a donor action to be turned into a nice, sveldt, light weight, Teutonic Stalking Rifle with Butterknife Bolt Handle, Half-Octagon/Half-Round barrel in Yessirree, you guessed it - .250 Savage. Just as soon as I can get the rifle back across the pond to my gunsmith of choice. Yes, I know I could do it here too, but pay twice the price and then still have to obtain the chamber reamer/gauges myself - try to find a German Gunsmith equipped for a .250 Savage - I haven't managed to locate one yet.
