Generally speaking, for those who have changed model 70 classic barrels with barrels from other Model 70 classics, how well did they fit?

What I mean by that, of course, is that when you lined up the mortise in the barrel for the extractor, was the headspace within acceptable limits?

The few I messed with went together just fine, but the thread fit on them all, including the original barrel and receiver were sloppy with a capital S. Not near the tolerance of a pre 64. Also they aren't really worth the trouble to fit them to a pre 64 as they are not half of the barrel to start with and will require nearly as much work as a premium blank.

I would say it would be worth it to fit a pre 64 barrel to a classic, bt would rather see one go back on a pre 64 action.
