My Mexican Mauser bottom metal when bedded flush with wood has tension at back action screw. To me it seems like action would be stressed. The only way to have it have no tension would be to build bedding then bottom metal will be higher than wood. How are 98,s bedded? kk alaska | ||

There most likely is something wrong with the entire bedding job. I bed Mausers with about .040 space between the mag box and bottom of the receiver, keeping the two parts parrallel with each other. I don't want the two pieces touching along the mag box. Check yours, and you may want to rebed the front of the bottom metal which will take the stress of the back end.
