Hey guys,

I bought a Kimber imported 338 made on a BRNO VZ.24 action for my first project gun. I think its great because its ugly as sin, but functional.

I plan on taking it from a 24 inch synthetic stocked abomination, and transforming it into something much prettier.

I'm planning on either having it re-chambered, or cut down to 20-22 inches, installing a banded front sight, barrel band, and 3 leaf, 2 folding and one standing rear express sight, and adding a 3 position saftey. The parts are from NECG

Questions.

1 Do I need a special stock for the BRNO, or will a stock for a 98 Mauser fit? I'm thinking something like this
or

Will any of the Mauser 3 positions safteys fit?

Any stock inleted for a large ring 98 will fit. Just tell whomever you purchase your stock from what you have and I am sure they can fix you up.

Any of the safeties will fit also. Again just tell them what you have.

My "Heavy African" rifle is a VZ-24 sporter in 9.3x62mm, stocked in an old Royal myrtlewood stock and a three position safety. Just tell the gunsmith what you have and what you want, since the VZ is soooo standard. You'll have a fine rifle.

Those stock pictures look like they came from Great American Gunstocks. I bought one of thier Masuer 98 stocks a few years ago for my VZ-24. If my experience is the norm, you will have remove some wood to the action to fit, but you can get a very good fit when done. Mine turned out looking great.
