I recently bought a Win 100 in .243win.The problem when i shoot it while hunting (without ear protection) it is VERY loud. After shooting it my ears ring for 3 or 4 days after.I've hunted with a few different guns for over 30 years,levers,semi's,bolts,.243,.308,30-06,300wby mag, and NEVER had a problem like this. The gun has a non factory stock.I'm wondering if the stock is affecting where the action blowback noise is going(directly to my ears) or if these guns are inherently very loud to the shooter. When i shoot near other people(sighting in) nobody tells me that it is louder than anything else.Any help with this problem is appreciated.

I hunted with the M100 Carbine in .308 Win for years & had no noise problem. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.
